Box Score

PASADENA, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Water Polo team (3-13, 2-2) has now won two straight following a 15-4 road win at Caltech Saturday morning. The Bulldogs were led by three goals from Courtney Sawin (Tacoma, WA), seven points from Emma Parker (Yucaipa, CA), and 15 saves from Tori Zielinski (Sunnyvale, CA).

Redlands' offense got off to a fast start with three goals in the opening three minutes as Danielle Cary (Riverside, CA), Parker, and Sawin all scored with Parker and Zielinski also adding assists.

The Beavers pulled one back to make it 3-1 with 3:14 left in the opening quarter before the Bulldogs scored three unanswered to extend their lead to five, 6-1. Sawin added her second goal during the run while Parker netted herself a hat trick. Katrina Nielsen (Houston, TX) had two assists and Breanna Bailey (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) added an assist as well.

After conceding two goals to the Beavers in the final :37 seconds of the first, UR shut them out in the second and third quarters, outscoring them 5-0. Parker had two of the three second quarter goals and Hannah Long (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) found the back of the net for the first time. In the third Sofia Portello (Sonoma, CA) and Parker each scored on powerplays.

In the final eight minutes Sawin had a goal and an assist while Kaitlynn Pierceall (Beaumont, CA) scored a brace, and Gianna Ratto (Santa Rosa, CA) scored off a Sarah Sinclair (Riverside, CA) assist with less than a minute remaining in the game.

Redlands held Caltech to a .118 shooting percentage while they converted at a .536 clip. Exclusions continue to be an issue for the Bulldogs as they were called for 14, but they drew 11 and converted on 5-of-11 powerplay opportunities.

The Bulldogs return to the Thompson Aquatic Center for a home Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) game against Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, March 25 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
