Redlands Women's Lacrosse honors seniors Emma Beaver and Nina Davis

Box Score

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (3-11, 1-9 SCIAC) honored their two seniors Emma Beaver (Bend, OR) and Nina Davis (Bainbridge Island, WA) on the eve of commencement Friday afternoon at Farquhar Field. The Bulldogs, though, would fall to Whittier College 17-7 despite scoring the final four goals of the game.

Redlands got off to a great start with first-year Emily Webster (Ladera Ranch, CA) scoring on a free position on their opening possession. The rest of the first quarter though saw Whittier score six unanswered to take a 6-1 lead.

In the first three minutes of the second quarter the Bulldogs picked up their second goal with another first-year in Cailin Walker (Portland, OR) scoring finishing a free position at the 12:51 mark to make it a five-goal deficit, 7-2.

After the Poets extended their lead to ten, 12-2, with 4:22 left in the half, Catie Ramicone (Countryside, IL), a first-year, scored an unassisted goal as the Bulldogs went into the half trailing 12-3.

In the third the Poets scored all five goals of the period, but those were the final tallies of the game for the Purple & Gold as Redlands closed the game out by holding Whittier scoreless over the final 16 minutes and 31 seconds as they won the fourth quarter 4-0.

During that stretch Jenny Quinonez Diaz (Menlo Park, CA) scored her first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) goal and her second of the season. Walker, Jenna Bradford (Anaheim, CA), and Webster would all score to end the game on a 4-0 run, but the final would end up being 17-7.

As a team the Bulldogs converted on all four of their free position attempts and forced one more turnover than they committed.

Beaver finished with five draw controls, while Davis had two draw controls and a caused turnover. Walker and Webster led the way offensively with each of them scoring a brace and Webster adding five ground balls and a caused turnover. In goal Alyssa Ashley (Vista, CA) started and made eight saves on 25 shots faced.

The Bulldogs will end their road schedule next Wednesday, April 26 at 7:00 p.m. as they make the long trip out to Thousand Oaks, CA to take on California Lutheran University whom they beat at home 16-6 back in March.
