BEAUMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands No. 11 ranked Men's Golf team finished third at the Bulldog Fall Invitational Tuesday with a three round total of 866 (282-292-292).
After round one Monday morning the Bulldogs were eight strokes back of the leaders, the University of La Verne. Then in round two that afternoon the Maroon and Grey managed to shoot a 292 at two under par.
On the second day of the event Redlands matched their second round 292 with another 292, but a 285 from Trinity University (Texas) pushed the Bulldogs back into third place, 11 strokes off the event winner La Verne and two back of Trinity. They finished nine strokes ahead of No. 19 Pomona-Pitzer and 12 ahead of California Lutheran University.
The Bulldogs were led by Aaron Buck (Tualatin, OR) who finished eight strokes under par with a 208 (68-70-70) as he was the runner-up, four strokes off the leader from La Verne.
The second place finisher was Cohen Gladheim (Sherwood, OR) who competed as an individual finishing with a 215 (72-73-70). His final round 70 moved him up six spots into fifth place.
Jonas DeLeon (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) had a strong first two rounds as he sat third with a 140 (69-71). But a final round 78 pushed him down to 14th.
In 29th place was William Rinehart (Denver, CO) who rode a first round 70 to a three-round 224 (70-78-76). Five spots back of Rinehart was Jake Yim (Lake Oswego, OR) who shot a 226 (75-79-72). His final round 72 improved his finish by nine positions.
Mario Dino (Denver, CO) finished 37th with a 227 (73-76-78) and Damon Bartells (Sacramento, CA) shot a 228 (81-73-74). Bartells' first round had him 54th, but his final two rounds moved him up to 41st.
The final two Bulldogs to score included Matthew Thorig (Mentone, CA) and Benjamin Tieu (Tualatin, OR) who were tied for 56th with 242's. Thorig had an 80, 78, and 84, while Tieu went 81-83-78.
For Redlands this concludes their fall season as they will return to action in early 2025. The spring portion of the schedule will be added to goredlands.com once available.
