USTFCCCA All-Region Release
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced that University of Redlands' Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) was selected as the Division III West Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year (AOTY).
This is Bachmeier's second Track Athlete of the Year honor this season after earning the same distinction from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) following the SCIAC Championships. She was also named the USTFCCCA All-Region Field Athlete of the Year during the indoor season. She scored a total of 31 individual points across four events, 23.5 coming in track events during the SCIAC Championships.
This season she has a personal best in the Heptathlon of 4,585 points coming at the Redlands Final Qualifier. Her total is fourth most in program history.
On the track exclusively, she ran a 14.26 100m Hurdle time at the SCIAC Championships, which is her personal best and the fifth fastest all-time. The time also won her the individual championship.
In the 400m Hurdles she won the SCIAC Championship with another personal best time of 1:02.36, the second fastest all-time.
The Bulldogs 4x100 relay team was the SCIAC runners-up with a time of 47.87, the seventh fastest all-time. The 4x400 relay team finished third with a time of 3:58.26, the seventh fastest. Bachmeier ran in both events.
She currently sits in 20th place of the Heptathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She finishes the competition tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. pacific time with the Long Jump.
