2025 Redlands Women's Tennis Schedule Preview

2025 Women's Tennis Schedule

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team begins their first season under new head coach Mike Longanecker on February 20 at the Coach Jim Verdieck Tennis Center against Brandeis University.

It will be a 17 dual season with seven in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play and the other 10 in non-conference. The Bulldogs will be at home for all 10 non-conference match-ups and four within SCIAC.

No. 28 Brandeis completed their 2024 season 10-9 overall and 4-7 away.

Two days after completing their first regular season match, the Bulldogs go to Claremont for a non-conference match-up with SCIAC rival and No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) on February 22. The Athenas come to Redlands for a SCIAC head-to-head on April 1. CMS won the conference title last year and went 25-2 as they lost in the NCAA National Championship Semi-Finalagainst Wesleyan University (Conn.).

February 25 NCAA Division I member Oakland University plays the Bulldogs in the evening. The Golden Grizzlies were 5-14 last season including a 5-10 mark away from home.

Beginning March competition, Redlands hosts No. 37 UC Santa Cruz on March 7. The Banana Slugs had a strong spring last year, going 12-6 with a 9-5 road mark. They finished 2-2 against SCIAC opponents.

The second Top-5 opponent comes to the Verdieck Tennis Center on March 11 when No. 5 Emory University plays in the afternoon. The Eagles had a very successful season that reached the NCAA National Championship Quarterfinals against Wesleyan (Conn.). They had a 16-5 overall record and 1-2 record against the SCIAC.

No. 8 Middlebury College plays the Bulldogs on March 16 in Redlands. The Panthers finished 15-6 a year ago and ended their season in the NCAA Championship quarterfinals against the Athenas.  

A day later Colorado College is in town on March 17. The Tigers finished last spring 7-13 with an 0-2 SCIAC record.

In their third-straight day with a dual match, the Bulldogs host No. 9 Amherst College on March 18. The Mammoths lost to SCIAC rival Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) in the NCAA Championship Round of 16 last season. They were 15-7.

No. 18 Babson College and the Bulldogs face off on March 21. The Beavers finished 13-6 and went 2-0 against SCIAC opponents.

The Bulldogs open SCIAC play on March 26 when they host Whittier College. The Poets finished last in SCIAC last season and were winless in conference play at 0-7. Overall, they finished 2-14.

At the end of that week Redlands wraps up March competition with their final non-conference dual of the season against No. 13 Williams College on March 28 at the Verdieck Tennis Center. The Ephs were 14-6 overall with a 3-1 record against the SCIAC.

After their second match-up with CMS, as previously mentioned, the Bulldogs play Chapman University on April 5. The Panthers were fifth at 3-4 in SCIAC and 7-9 overall.

No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer plays in the afternoon of April 11 against the Bulldogs in Redlands. The Sagehens were only beat by CMS last year, going 6-1 in SCIAC and 20-6 overall. P-P lost to the University of Chicago in the NCAA National Championship Semi-Finals.  

The Bulldogs will be at home for the final time on April 12 when they host California Lutheran University. The Regals took sixth in SCIAC at 2-5 and were 9-8 overall.

The first of the final two regular season duals is in Pasadena against No. 34 Caltech on April 15. The Beavers were 4-3 as the fourth place team in SCIAC. They went 7-10 overall. Six of their losses, though, came against Top-10 teams.

After 11 days off, the Bulldogs play Occidental College in Los Angeles on April 26. The Tigers finished seventh at 1-6 and 8-8 overall.

  • Amherst (0-7): Lost a close match last year, 5-4.
  • Babson (0-1): Lost 5-4 last year.
  • Whittier (19-0): Swept the Poets 9-0 on the road in 2024.
  • Williams (0-6): Lost 4-1 last year.
  • Chapman (18-4): Have won 14 in-a-row.
  • Pomona-Pitzer (5-30): Have dropped the last 13.
  • Cal Lutheran (23-0): Still undefeated as of 2006.
  • Caltech (19-2): Non-competitive historical series that has seen the Beavers win in 2019 and 2023.
  • Occidental (20-0): Won 9-0 at home last April.
