2025 All-SCIAC Football Awards Release
LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the 2025 All-SCIAC Awards and earning SCIAC Newcomer of the Year recognition for the University of Redlands was running back Mark Mitchell III (Fontana, CA).
Mitchell is only the second SCIAC Newcomer of the Year in program history with the other being Taylor Irwin in 2010. He was also named 2nd Team All-SCIAC, one of nine Bulldogs to receive All-SCIAC honors this season.
The freshman was third in SCIAC play in rushing yards per game (YPG) at 61.5. His 57-yard rushing touchdown against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) on November 8 was the second-longest run in SCIAC this season.
His YPG average ranked 11th in the conference with eight of the players sitting ahead of him being quarterbacks.
He was also fourth in SCIAC in punt return average at 8.9 yards per return. His 16 total returns were second-most and his 142 total yards were third.
Against Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) in the regular season finale Mitchell had 40 rushing attempts, which was a program record and the fifth-most total plays, including passes and receptions, accounted for during conference action. His 95 yards on the ground against the Sagehens was the third-most and his 135 total yards were seventh in SCIAC.
In the return game he had returns of 17 and 12 in the two games against P-P, the fourth and ninth-longest returns.
Mitchell has three years of eligibility remaining for the Bulldogs who posted their most wins, six, since 2021.
