SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Following a delay of Round 1 due to frost, the University of Redlands Men's Golf team currently holds a one stroke lead after 27 holes at the San Antonio Shootout, hosted by Schreiner University at TPC San Antonio. They will complete the final 27 holes tomorrow.
Redlands shot an opening round 298, which put them four strokes behind Southwestern University (Texas). But a 143 through the first nine holes of round two moved them a stroke ahead of the Pirates. Another five strokes behind Southwestern is Texas Lutheran University and the University of St. Thomas (Texas).
William Rinehart (Denver, CO) moved up five spots after Round 1 and sits in fourth place with a 109 (74-35). He is three strokes off the leader and two behind the co-second place golfers.
Jonas DeLeon (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) is tied for fifth and a stroke back of Rinehart with a 110 (73-37). Damon Bartells (Sacramento, CA) shot a 111 (76-35) and moved up 11 spots in the second round into a tie for ninth. In 16th is Aaron Buck (Tualatin, OR) with a 113 (77-36), in a tie for 22nd is Jake Yim (Lake Oswego, OR) with a 114 (75-39) and rounding out the competitiors was Mario Dino (Denver, CO) playing as an individual sitting in 49th with a 77-43.
The Bulldogs play the third and final round tomorrow morning.
