SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Redlands Men's Golf team maintained their 27-hole lead through the final 18 holes Tuesday as they took home the San Antonio Shootout Title for the second straight year.
After shooting a 445 (298-147) through 27 holes on Monday, the Bulldogs ended the tournament with a 299 giving them a 744. They also upset No. 13 Southwestern University (Texas) by two strokes (746) and beat No. 49 Texas Lutheran University by 12.
Jonas DeLeon (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) was a medalist finishing in fourth place with a 186 (73-38-75). Aaron Buck (Tualatin, OR) was a spot back of him in sixth with a 187 (77-37-73). The biggest mover of the 67-golfer tournament was Jake Yim (Lake Oswego, OR) who shot a 73 on the final round moving him up 14 spots into eighth place with a 188 (75-40-73). William Rinehart (Denver, CO) tied Yim with a 188 (74-36-78). Damon Bartells (Sacramento, CA) gave the Bulldogs five Top-20 finishers as he took 19th with a 192 (76-36-80). The final Bulldog to compete was Mario Dino (Denver, CO) as an individual placing 51st with a 202 (77-41-88).
Redlands has a quick turnaround with Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) No. 1 hosted by Occidental College this Saturday-Sunday, February 22-23 in Ventura at Olivas Links G.C.
