VENTURA, Calif. – Jay Wing (Corona, CA) shot a final round 66 to help the University of Redlands men's golf team finish in a tie for third at the CA State Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs finish their tournament 19 strokes back of the winner Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) but only five back of Pomona-Pitzer, while they were tied with Occidental College.
Wing advanced six positions into a tie for second place with his third round 6, which is tied for the sixth-lowest single-round total in program history. He finished with a 207 (69-72-66) overall. On the day he did not have a single misstep with 13 pars, four birdies, and an eagle on 18.
Also finishing inside the Top-10 was Cohen Gladheim (Sherwood, OR) who took ninth with a 213 (71-70-72). During his final round he had four birdies with two of them, along with four pars, occurring over his final six holes.
Cade Lee (West Linn, OR) tied for 20th with a 217 (70-76-71). He birdied or parred 12 of his final 15 holes for his second under par round of the tournament.
The fourth scorer for Redlands was Charles Hageman (Lake Oswego, OR). He tied for 26th with a 218 (70-73-75). He got off to a slow start with bogeys on three of his first six holes, but a string of 11 pars across his final 12 holes stabilized his positioning.
The final two Bulldogs competing included Himmat Singh (Santa Barbara, CA) who finished in 45th after shooting a 74-77-76 and Kash Petasky (San Diego, CA) who played as an individual finishing in 50th following a 75-80-77.
Redlands makes a rare trip to Washington where they compete at the Pacific Lutheran University Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, September 28-29.
