VENTURA, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Golf team took home the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) No. 1 title over the weekend hosted by Occidental College by two strokes over No. 37 California Lutheran University (CLU).
The Bulldogs were in a three-way tie for first place after Round 1 with a 286. That 286 was significantly impacted by the 67 shot by William Rinehart (Denver, CO), which was the 16th lowest round in program history as he becomes the 13th best performer.
In Round 2 Redlands shot a 281 for a total of 567 (286-281). The second round was two strokes better than CLU and four clear of No. 17 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Aaron Buck (Tualatin, OR) had one of the biggest moves in round two, shooting a 69, and was one of only five golfers to shoot a sub-70, as he moved up eight spots into third place with a 141 (72-69).
Rinehart finished in a tie with Buck with a 141 (67-74) and Jonas DeLeon (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) shot a 143 (73-70) placing 11th.
Jake Yim (Lake Oswego, OR) was the biggest mover in Round 2, improving his finish by 14 spots thanks to a 68. Yim ends his two rounds with a 145 (77-68). The fifth Bulldog was Damon Bartells (Sacramento, CA) in 26th with a 150 (73-77).
Next Monday-Tuesday, March 10-11 the Bulldogs make the road trip to Moorpark for the CLU Kingsmen & Regals Invitational.
