REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Track and Field teams competed at home for the first time this season at the Redlands Invitational Friday afternoon where Ronan Byrne (Portola Valley, CA) set the school record in the 3000m. Just outdone by Byrne was Chloe Bullock (Hood River, OR) who posted the second fastest 3000m time in program history.
Men
The men posted three new outdoor Top-10 times/marks Friday. Leading the way was Byrne's 8:40.34 in the 3000m, which breaks Riley Lathrop's record from two years ago by nearly three seconds.
Joining Byrne in the Top-10 in the 3000m was David Huggins (Texarkana, TX) who ran the seventh fastest time in 8:50.73 and finished as the runner-up on the day.
In the Hammer Christian Ferguson (Chula Vista, CA) took seventh and threw 49.80m, 163' 5" on his first attempt of the evening as he set the new sixth best mark in program history.
Women
Bullock won the 3000m in 10:07.98, the new second fastest time in program history. The top-nine of the race were all Bulldogs as Abigail (AJ) Johnson (Westborough, MA) and Kiera Beyer (Beaverton, OR) ran two-three with times of 10:41.89 and 10:42.41. Johnson also ran a 2:28.84 in the 800m, a new personal best.
Christen Wiley (South San Francisco, CA) won the Long Jump (4.93m, 16' 2.25") and took second in the Triple Jump (10.11m, 33' 2").
The Bulldogs will get a couple of weeks off, and see the return of four indoor athletes currently in New York at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, before hosting Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Quad Cup No. 2 on Saturday, March 29 at 4:00 p.m.
