REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Track and Field teams took second and third place at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Quad Cup No. 2 inside Ted Runner Stadium Saturday evening. The meet included Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS), and Pomona-Pitzer. Unlike previous years, the results of this meet do not count towards the SCIAC Championship standings.
Men: 2nd place (132 points)
The Bulldog men took second place behind CMS. They edged Chapman by 2.5 points for second place with Pomona-Pitzer 20 points back in fourth. Teams received 10 points for first place, 8 points for second place, 6 for third, 4 for fourth, 2 for fifth, and 1 for sixth.
Notable scorers for Redlands included Derek Pangilinan (Rosamond, CA) in the sprints with seven points thanks to a fourth place finish in the 100m (10.83, personal best), a fourth place finish on the 4x100 relay team of Gabriel Meunier (Winslow, AZ), Lukas Gamans (Claremont, CA), Jaiden Coleman (Las Vegas, NV), and Pangilinan (42.61), and a runner-up finish in the 4x400 relay quartet of himself, Patrick Lang II (San Antonio, TX), Ronan Byrne (Portola Valley, CA), and Jude Holling (Sylmar, CA) (3:21.13).
Coleman added six points for his performances in the 100m (10.93, fifth place) and 200m (22.19, fourth). Long scored 14 points after finishing third in the 400m (49.11) and third in the Triple Jump (13.10m, 42' 11.75").
Byrne took third in the 800m (1:55.64), second in the 1500m (3:59.06), and of course second with the 4x400 relay team as he totaled 16 points.
Jacob Huset (Tacoma, WA) had 18 points with a win in the High Jump (1.85m, 6' 0.75") and a runner-up finish in the 110m Hurdles (15.29, personal best). Joining Huset with success in the hurdles was Holling who won the 400m Hurdles (56.05, personal best) and was on the runner-up 4x400 relay team.
Allyn Asberry-Blanco (Orange County, NY) won the Triple Jump with a personal best coming on his fourth and final jump (14.18m, 46' 6.25"). He also took fourth in the High Jump (1.75m, 5' 8.75") as he collected 14 points.
In the throws Tyler Davies (Lake Forest, CA) and Christian Ferguson (Chula Vista, CA) both excelled. Davies won the Shot Put (14.50m, 47' 7") and took sixth in the Hammer (44.06m, 144' 7") for 11 points. Ferguson had an all-around evening with a fourth place finish in the Hammer (49.10m, 161' 1"), a fifth place finish in the Discus (41.11m, 134' 10", personal best), and a sixth place finish in the Shot Put (13.25m, 43' 5.75").
Women: 3rd place (135.5 points)
The Bulldogs finished 59.5 points ahead of fourth place Pomona-Pitzer, 14.5 behind Chapman, and 79 behind the winners CMS.
Overall, Redlands posted six new outdoor Top-10 times/marks. They included two from Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA), one for Chloe Bullock (Hood River, OR) and Elisabeth Eichinger (Yucaipa, CA). Sabrina Tanouye (Elkhart Lake, WI), Semmere, Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA), and Maigan Adams (Los Angeles, CA) combined for a Top-10 4x100 relay time. Bachmeier, Faith Kasper (Menifee, CA), Semmere, and Bullock did the same thing in the 4x400 relay.
Semmere finished with 17.5 points thanks to a personal best and second place finish in the 100m (12.18, 10th in program history) and a third place finish in the 200m (25.13, 8th). The 4x100 relay team took third (48.18, 9th) and the 4x400 relay team took second (3:58.87, 8th).
Adams was successful in the sprints and jumps, scoring 24 points. She won the Triple Jump (11.95m, 39' 2.5"), took third in the Long Jump (5.41m, 17' 9") and 4x100, and came across fifth in the 100m (12.45).
Bullock dominated the middle distance events. She won both the 800m (2:16.29) and the 1500m (4:44.08, 6th) in route to a 22-point night.
Bachmeier had a busy evening with six events. She scored in all but one, tallying 20.5 points. She took second place in the 100m Hurdles (14.79), took fourth place in the Long Jump (5.41m, 17' 9") , and finished third in the Shot Put (10.33m 33' 10.75").
Eichinger had 14 points after finishing second in the Shot Put (10.57m, 34' 8.25") and third in the 100m Hurdles (15.07, 9th).
Madison Eaton (Rocklin, CA) took third in the High Jump (1.50m, 4' 11") as she added six points to the Bulldogs' total. She also had personal bests in the 100m Hurdles (18.13) and the Long Jump (4.70m, 15' 5").
Ellie Mann (Portland, OR) led the throwers with 10 points. She was third in the Discus (32.65m, 107' 1") and fifth in the Shot Put (9.76m, 32' 0.25") and Hammer (34.36m, 112' 9", personal best).
Redlands returns for the Brutus Hamilton Multi-Event for the multi athletes on April 3-4 in Berkeley, CA. The Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on April 12 is the next full team meet.
