REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team qualified for their first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament since 2017 as they travel to Claremont, CA to face-off with No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) on Wednesday, April 30 at 7:00 p.m.

The Bulldogs qualified as the No. 3 seed after sweeping Chapman University and Occidental College for the first time since 2014 and 2016, respectively. They finished with an 8-4 conference record with their lone losses coming to No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer and No. 2 Claremont-M-S.

Tournament Format

On the other side of the bracket is No.1 Pomona-Pitzer hosting No. 4 Occidental College. The winner of that game will play the winner of Redlands-CMS with the highest remaining seed hosting the championship game this Saturday, May 3 with time to be announced.

Tournament History

This will be the ninth year competing in the tournament for the Bulldogs with the first qualification coming in 2010 during the first year of competition when they made it to the championship game before losing to CMS. Redlands has won three SCIAC Tournament titles and were runners-up once. Their overall record is 8-5.

Head-to-head

The Bulldogs lost by the narrow margin of one, 12-11, at CMS at the beginning of the month in the most competitive game for the Bulldogs against the Athenas since losing 6-5 on the road in 2016. In the return game last week the Athenas won decisively, 22-7, at Farquhar Field.

Historically the Bulldogs are 9-32 against the Athenas dating back to 2006. The two sides have beat each other once in the SCIAC Tournament with the first meeting coming in 2015 when Redlands won 13-7 and then in 2017 when CMS won 17-6.
