GENEVA, Ohio – The four University of Redlands Track & Field multi athletes completed their Decathlons and Heptathlons, Friday along with Mari Evonuk (Sherwood, OR) competing in the High Jump during day two of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Corte Peterson (Tabernash, CO) was 13th after five of 10 events in the Decathlon, but in the final five events on day two he moved into ninth place, one spot outside the Top-8 scoring athletes. He does earn 2nd Team All-American honors for his finish with 6,455 points.

Peterson made a big jump after finishing 14th in the 110m Hurdles (16.61) and Discus (32.86m) which had him in 13th place with three events remaining. He took advantage of the Pole Vault, his specialty event, where he scored 731 points finishing second with a mark of 4.40m. Following the Pole Vault he took 10th in the Javelin (45.92m) and eighth in the 1500m (4:50.60) to advance up four positions in just three events.

Jacob Huset (Tacoma, WA) had a tough finish to his career. He started the day with a ninth-place finish in the 110m Hurdles (15.90), which moved him into eighth. He then finished 18th in the Discus (29.90m), in what would be his final scoring event. He did not record a mark in the Pole Vault and did not start in the Javelin or 1500m as he was one of three athletes to not finish the event. Through seven events he had 4,672 points finishing11th.

Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) finished 13th with 4,588 points. She finished 13th in the Long Jump (5.26m) and 19th in the Javelin (26.10m) before finishing strong with a seventh-place finish in the 800m (2:27.41). She earns 2nd Team All-American honors for the first time in the Outdoor Championships and the third time overall after earning it twice indoors the past two seasons.

Elisabeth Eichinger (Yucaipa, CA) missed the All-American spots by two finishing 18th with 4,188 points. In the Long Jump she ended up 16th (5.14m). She then went 14th in the Javelin (28.35m), which had her 17th overall and within a spot of the 16th and final All-American position. Her 20th-place finish, though, in the 800m (2:40.39) pushed her back to 18th overall.  She is only a junior, so she still has one year remaining.

After four upperclassmen competed, freshman Evonuk made her outdoor championship debut in the High Jump Friday morning. The competitors started at 1.60m, 5' 3". After three attempts at the height, however, she was unable to clear the mark finishing tied for 20th. She will go into her first collegiate offseason with two championship appearances after making the All-American 2nd Team in the High Jump indoors in March.

Saturday morning Allyn Asberry-Blanco (Orange ounty, NY) will make his first appearance at an NCAA Championship as he competes in the Triple Jump at 8 a.m. pacific daylight time (PDT). Later in the morning at 10:45 a.m. PDT Maigan Adams (Los Angeles, CA) will look for her third All-American honor, competing in the Triple Jump as well.
