HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – After 18 holes of the NCAA Division III Fall Preview, the University of Redlands men's golf team currently sits in 15th place after shooting a 297.
The Bulldogs trail the leader Kenyon College by 19 strokes but are within five strokes of Co-10th place Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) and Washington and Lee University.
Jay Wing (Riverside, CA) continues his hot start to his Bulldog career currently sitting in fifth place after shooting a three under 68. He had five of Redlands' 10 birdies.
Cohen Gladheim (Sherwood, OR) shot a 73 and is sitting 37th. He birdied holes five and 17 with only three bogeys.
Tied for 89th are Logan Benintend (Carlsbad, CA) and William Rinehart (Denver, CO) with a pair of 79's. Benintend had five bogeys with two of them being doubles. Rinehart worked around seven bogeys thanks to a birdie on 13.
Not currently a scorer for the Bulldogs, only top four golfer's scores count towards team totals, Ben Tieu (Tualatin, OR) is 114th after shooting an 81. It was a slow start with bogeys on each of his first five holes. He did get a birdie on six that began a string of four holes where he was at or under par on three of them. He would add another birdie on 15 to counterbalance four bogeys on the back nine.
Redlands' first tee time is Tieu at 5 a.m. pacific daylight time tomorrow morning, Monday, September 22 in the second of three rounds across three days.
