VENTURA, Calif. – The University of Redlands women's golf team tied for second place at Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament No. 1 with a 608 (301-307).
The Bulldogs held a lead of one stroke ahead of Pomona-Pitzer after 18 holes of play yesterday, but a second round 307 was the third lowest of day which dropped them into a tie with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS).
Chloe Phan ended her tournament as the highest finishing Bulldog in a tie for fifth with a 151 (72-79). She had two bogeys and three birdies on Saturday before an up-and-down Sunday with six bogeys and two birdies.
Kylie McGrath and Jizelle Robledo each finished in a tie for seventh. McGrath shot a 152 (76-76) and was very consistent, never sitting more than four strokes over par during either round.
Robledo's 152 (76-76) looked a lot like McGrath's. She too never sat higher than four strokes over. Her best holes were on the front nine where two of her three birdies came.
Savanah Christenson tied for 13th with a 153 (77-76). She had a strong start to her first round with two birdies and four pars through six holes. She again began Sunday strong with six-straight pars.
In a tie for 22nd was Cecili Hayes. She had a 159 (78-81). Despite her lower finish, she had the most birdies on the team with seven. Six of them came on holes three, four, and 14.
The Bulldogs head to Arizona next weekend for the George Fox University Westbrook Village Invitational in Peoria on March 7-8.
