MOORPARK, Calif. – The University of Redlands men's golf team ended the California Lutheran University (CLU) Kingsmen Invitational in fourth place after shooting a 290, the lowest second round of the day.
The strong final 18 holes moved them up one position into fourth place with a 597 (307-290). They finished six strokes back of the event winner Pomona-Pitzer.
Jay Wing (Riverside, CA) moved up to second place with another 71, giving him a 142 for the two-day event. He birdied three holes with only two bogeys.
Logan Benintend (Carlsbad, CA) was the biggest mover on the day, advancing up 15 positions into 14th place with a 150 (79-71). He had three birdies with an eagle on hole five.
Cohen Gladheim (Sherwood, OR) tied for 29th with a 154 (79-75). He too had an eagle on five and added three birdies.
William Rinehart (Denver, CO) was 34th with a 155 (78-77). He had back-to-back birdies to end the back nine and start the front, but five bogeys in the middle cost him six strokes.
Ben Tieu (Tualatin, OR) had a big jump for the Maroon and Grey moving 12 spots into 40th. He shot +1 on the round for an 87-73. Matthew Thorig (Mentone, CA) and Himmat Singh (Santa Barbara, CA) played as Individuals with Thorig finishing 36th with a +5 across his final round going 81-77 and Singh would take 38th after firing off an 81-78.
The Bulldogs get little to no rest as they prepare to fly to Georgia for the Jekyll Island Invitational taking place March 20-22 in Jekyll Island, GA and being played at Jekyll Island Golf Club.
