LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their 2026 baseball awards with four University of Redlands student-athletes, one on 1st Team and three on 2nd Team, earning All-SCIAC honors.
The four selections match last season's total for the Maroon and Grey. It also extends the Bulldogs' streak to 51-straight seasons with at least one selection. 1974 is the last, and only, season with no representation. All-SCIAC has been given every season since 1933 with a few exceptions.
Earning first team honors at third base, and his first selection, was Nate Miller (San Jose, CA). During SCIAC play he ranked third in slugging percentage (.776), fourth in on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS) (1.214), fifth in runs scored (30), third in hits (36), tied for second in runs batted in (RBI) (33), tied for third in doubles (8), and tied for third in home runs (10).
On the 2nd Team, and earning his first selection, was Jesse Bullard (Riverside, CA) at first base. In his first season with the Bulldogs, he sat fifth in SCIAC in slugging percentage (.729), eighth in OPS (1.141), ninth in RBI's (28), tied for the league lead in home runs (11), and tied for the most sacrifice bunts (5). Defensively he was first in putouts (193) and total chances (209).
Joe Godoy (Los Angeles, CA), another first time all-conference performer, earned 2nd Team honors. He was ninth in earned run average (4.30), eighth in opponents batting average (.243), fifth in innings pitched (44), led the SCIAC in strikeouts (54), was third in strikeouts looking (16), and tied for eighth for fewest doubles allowed (5).
And the fourth Bulldog to earn All-SCIAC honors for the first time was Ian Umscheid (Beaumont, CA) who makes the 2nd Team as an outfielder. He hit .337 with .439 OBP, and a .611 slugging percentage. He also hit four home runs and drove in 16. His 12 doubles ranked atop the conference leader board and his 16 walks were tied for ninth.
The Bulldogs begin the SCIAC Tournament Thursday, as the No. 3 seed against No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer at 3:00 p.m. in Claremont. The tournament is double elimination so regardless of the result they will be playing again at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8.
