GREENSBORO, N.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced the 2026 NCAA Division III Region All-Defensive teams with Mason Chetcuti (Redwood City, CA) from the University of Redlands earning the honor in Region X as a catcher.
There is only one team per region, so one player per position and nine total per region. This is the third time in four seasons that the Bulldogs have had at least one selection as the best defensive player in the region at their position. Luke De Vries earned it in the outfield in 2023 and 2025 and Kaiya Saito earned recognition as a catcher in 2025 too.
During his junior season Chetcuti had 180 putouts, 15 assists, and a .990 fielding percentage from behind the plate. The putouts and assists were career highs with his fielding percentage trailing only his freshman season in 2024 when he did not commit an error. Overall, he threw out 10 runners trying to steal as well.
His season high for putouts was 15 against Occidental College when he played all 14 innings of a game the Bulldogs won 11-7 across two days. At Chapman he had a season-high three assists. He caught three runners trying to steal at Hendrix College back in February.
