VENTURA, Calif. – The University of Redlands women's golf team finished fourth at the CA State Intercollegiate after shooting a 309 second round.
The Bulldogs trailed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS), University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), and Pomona-Pitzer.
Savanah Christenson (Upland, CA) gave Redlands a Top-10 finisher as she tied for ninth with a 149 (74-75). She played a very clean final 18 holes as she had only two bogeys, but no birdies kept her from getting to or below par.
In 16th place with a 152 (77-75) was Cecili Hayes (Vancouver, WA). She had two birdies on the back nine and eight pars on the front.
Only one stroke behind her in a tie for 17th place was Kylie McGrath (Renton, WA) with a 153 (76-77). She too had eight pars on the front nine with another five on the back side as she battled through three bogeys.
What would be the fourth scorer, Kennady Hottel (Lake Oswego, OR) competed as an independent and took 39th with a 165 (80-85). She tallied her first two career birdies on 11 and 18.
The two final co-scoring Bulldogs were Maria Hernandez (Houston, TX) and Evie Denton (Rome, NY). Each shot 170 and tied for 44th. Hernandez had an 81 and 89 across her two rounds. Denton shot an 88 and then an 82.
Redlands makes the trip north in a couple of weeks as they compete in Dupont, Washington for the Pacific Lutheran University Invitational on Monday-Tuesday, September 28-29.
