SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Redlands Women's Golf team maintained their third place standing at the Carla Spenkoch Invitational after shooting a second round 301 for a two-round total of 607 (306-301).
The Bulldogs shot the lowest round of the day as they gained five strokes on the event-winner Trinity University (Texas) and four on second place University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Overall, they trailed the top-two teams by three and two strokes, respectively after the strong finish.
Picking up the individual win for Redlands was Savanah Christenson (Uplamd, CA) who shot a two over 73. She doubled her first hole of the morning and had bogeys on five of her first nine holes before rattling off four birdies and five pars on the back nine. She finished the competition with a 145 (72-73).
Chloe Phan (Milpitas, CA) was the second of four Bulldogs inside the Top-10 as she took sixth with a 152 (75-77). She was even through seven holes and only one over after 11, but three bogeys on the final seven added five additional strokes.
Co-ninth place finishers Kylie McGrath (Renton, WA) and Jizelle Robledo (Fontana, CA) shot 155's. McGrath (78-77) had seven pars on her first eight holes before a mixed bag of six bogeys, two pars, and two birdies on her final 11 holes.
Robledo (81-74) advanced eight positions up the leaderboard. She bogeyed four holes but countered that with 13 pars and a birdie on her third-to-last hole.
Cecili Hayes (Vancouver, WA) finished 32nd with a 174 (87-87). She began her morning strong with four-straight pars, but she finished her round with bogeys on all but three holes.
Redlands wraps up their fall schedule with The Hollins Cup hosted by University of California, Santa Cruz on October 13-14 at Pasatiempo Country Club.
