Bachmeier and Huset improve their chances at NCAA Indoor Championship bids in Wisconsin

RIPON, Wis. – The University of Redlands Track and Field teams competed at their final regular season indoor meet Friday and Saturday as they took part in the Ripon Final Qualifier in Wisconsin where Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA) won the Pentathlon and Jacob Huset (Tacoma, WA) winning the Heptathlon.

Friday

Bachmeier and Elisabeth Eichinger (Yucaipa, CA) were the two representatives for the Bulldogs in the Pentathlon, which wrapped up on Day 1. Bachmeier took second in the seven athlete field with 3392 points and Eichinger finished third with 3279 points.

Bachmeier's point total is a personal best and improves her program-second-best total by 29 points. In the 60m Hurdles she ran an 8.86 winning the race. Her time is the 23rd fastest time at Division III and the fourth fastest in program history.

In the 800m she took third (2:29.84), took third in the High Jump (1.48m, 4' 10.25"), was the runner-up in the Long Jump (5.21m, 17' 1.25"), and took third with a personal best of 10.19m, 33' 5.25" throw in the Shot Put. The throw is the new 10th best mark in program history.

Eichinger's point total is second all-time in program history. She was third with a personal best time in the 60m Hurdles (9.24), the fifth fastest in program history. In the 800m she took fourth (2:32.66), she finished fourth in the High Jump (1.45m, 4' 9") with the sixth best mark in program history, and was the Shot Put runner-up with a throw of 10.54m, 34' 7" that places her sixth in program history.

In the Heptathlon Huset and Corte Peterson (Tabernash, CO) were the lone competitors. Huset is in first place with 2803 points and Peterson is second with 2616 points.

Huset set a personal best time in the 60m (7.12) winning the event. In the High Jump he cleared 1.89m, 6' 2.25" taking first, took second in the Long Jump (6.37m, 20' 10.75"), and won the Shot Put (11.73m, 38' 6") with the ninth best throw in program history.

Peterson had a season best finishing second in the 60m (7.24), took second in the High Jump (1.74m, 5' 8.5") with the ninth best height in program history, won the Long Jump (6.58m, 21' 7.25"), and was the runner-up in the Shot Put (10.64m, 34' 11").

Saturday

The final three events of the Heptathlon concluded Saturday with Huset winning the event with 4982 points, re-breaking his own school record. Peterson took second place with 3996 points.

Huset ran an 8.51 winning the 60m Hurdles, he set a personal best (4.12m, 13' 6.25") and the fifth best mark in program history in the Pole Vault, and in the 1000m (2:59.44) he took second.

Peterson ran a 9.17 in the 60m Hurdles taking second, he did not record a height in his best event, the Pole Vault, and won the 1000m (2:59.34) with a personal best that resets his third best time in program history.

Next up for these indoor athletes would be the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships on Friday-Saturday, March 14-15 in Rochester, New York. Full details on qualifiers and other championship information will be added to the website when available.
