RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The University of Redlands Cross Country teams returned to action Saturday morning at the University of California, Riverside Invitational where the men's team took 20th setting four new Top-20 records, while the women were also 20th in races filled with higher division competition.
Men
In the men's 8K Stian Asper (St. Paul, MN) took 33rd with a 24:27.3, resetting the second-fastest time in program history, which he set last season. 24 of the 32 runners in front of him were higher division student-athletes with only four Division III runners going faster.
The second highest finisher was David Huggins (Salem, OR) in 114th. He ran a 25:21.2, the new 10th-fastest time as five of the 10 fastest times have come since 2021.
Max Schaller (San Diego, CA) ran 129th with a 25:31.3, the 15th-fastest time in program history. Matthew Farnsworth (Palos Verdes Estates, CA) ran 25:42.9, the new 18th-fastest time, placing 153rd.
The other Bulldog inside the Top-200 was Carlos Arias (Redlands, CA) in 192nd with a time of 26:23.6.
Women
On the women's side Kiera Beyer (Beaverton, OR) took 56th as the highest finishing Bulldog. She ran the 5K race in 18:55.2.
Elaine Dugmore (Hawthorne, CA) completed her race in 20:15.2 finishing 158th. Also, inside the Top-200 was Madison Schaefer (Portland, OR) in 194th with a 21:02.8.
The Bulldogs have a pair of meets next Saturday, October 4 with some runners heading to the Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) Invitational and others going to Oregon for the Willamette University Invitational.
