Gordon, Boston, Ferguson, and Hlywiak named All-SCIAC

2025-26 All-SCAIC Men's Basketball Awards Release

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the All-SCIAC Awards for men's basketball with Lucas Gordon, Jhace Boston, Omari Ferguson, and Jake Hlywiak all making the All-SCIAC teams for the University of Redlands men's basketball program.

With four selections this marks the first time the program has had four honorees in back-to-back seasons. It also marks the sixth time doing so in program history along with 2024-25, 1975-76, 1060-61, 1940-41, and 1935-36.

For Gordon he is a first team selection for the second time after earning it last season as well. He was also selected as the SCIAC Athlete of the Year, the fifth in program history and the first since Josiah Brensdal in 2012-13.

Gordon averaged 14.3 points per game (PPG), the eighth highest mark in SCIAC play. He finished third in rebounding with nine per game and was fourth in blocks at 1.3 and tied for 15th with 1.2 steals. Additionally, he was the third most efficient scorer, shooting 59.2 percent from the field.

His best individual performances came at California Lutheran University (CLU) when he had five blocks which ended up being the most by anyone in SCIAC play. In that same road game he had 12 rebounds, the third-highest total. He also shot 71.4 percent against that CLU team in a home game at the beginning of January.

Earning second team honors for the first time in his career, Boston was a Swiss army knife for the Bulldogs. He averaged 11.06 PPG while finishing inside the top 10 in rebounding with 6.1. He added 3.6 assists, the sixth highest average, while remaining efficient, posting a 2-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, the joint fourth highest. Where he really helped the U of R was his defense, He finished second to the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Year in blocks with 1.5 and seventh in steals with 1.8. He was one of two players to average those.

His best game came at CLU when he had 19 points, 21st most in a single game in SCIAC play, seven free throw makes (6th), two blocks (5th), 15 rebounds (1st), and two steals (16th).

Ferguson earns his second All-SCIAC selection in as many seasons as he earned second team honors. He averaged 10.9 PPG (21st). His 69 made field goals and 34 made free throws are both top 20 (16th). He added 2.9 assists (10th) and 2.3 steals (2nd). He had a three-steal game against CLU which was the eighth highest single game total.

In his second season Hlywiak is recognized on the All-SCIAC Second Team for the first time. He was the SCIAC's best shooter from behind the arc. He led the conference at 43.9 percent from three and made 2.7 threes per game, also first. He added 12.6 PPG (17th) and quietly averaged 1.1 steals (19th).

His best game during SCIAC play was at CLU when he scored 20 points (15th) and made four threes (11th).

The quartet will begin SCIAC Tournament play tomorrow evening as they host No. 4 seed Occidental College at 7 p.m. inside Currier Gymnasium.
