Redlands women's basketball suffers heartbreaking loss to Puget Sound

Box Score

After gaining a 10-point lead midway through the second period, the University of Puget Sound pulled out an exciting win over Redlands by a score of 62-58.

The Bulldogs rallied back to tie the game with seven minutes to play but Karen Chase made a crucial basket for the Loggers after grabbing her own rebound with 23.1 seconds remaining. Following a corrected call by the officials that gave the ball back to Redlands with eight seconds to play, the Bulldogs put up the would-be winning three-pointer but came up short. Andrea Edwards sank both of the ensuing free throws to give the Loggers a four-point advantage and the eventual win.

Chase led all scorers with 29 points while Claire Ely came up with 13. For Redlands, freshman forward Courtney Carroll (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) tallied 20 points.

The Bulldogs (2-1) host Whitworth University on Saturday at 12 noon.
